Role summary
The Industrial Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on the machinery and equipment used in operations, ensuring the availability, safety, and optimal performance of equipment so production goals are met.
Objective
Ensure the availability and optimal performance of all industrial-laundry equipment and systems through the timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance, contributing to operational continuity, staff safety, and compliance with quality and efficiency standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the laundry’s industrial equipment.
- Repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures on production equipment to minimize downtime.
- Carry out adjustments, calibrations, and replacement of spare parts.
- Inspect and maintain the steam, water, compressed-air, and generator systems that support laundry operations.
- Log every maintenance intervention in the equipment control systems according to established procedures.
- Ensure compliance with occupational safety standards, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols during every maintenance task.
- Request and make proper use of the inventory of spare parts, materials, and tools needed for maintenance work.
- Coordinate maintenance interventions with the production supervisor and operators to minimize the impact on shift operations.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or equipment and facility deterioration that could pose risks to operations or personnel.
- Keep the maintenance shop and assigned work areas orderly, clean, and organized.
Requirements
- High school diploma and technical certification in industrial mechanics, electromechanics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance in manufacturing or production plants, preferably.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems applied to industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and equipment technical manuals.
- Availability to work different shifts, weekends, and overtime, and to respond to mechanical emergencies when required.
- Effective communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure.
